Robert brings 30 years of experience as a professional software developer to USATT
USA Table Tennis (“USATT”) continues to expand its capabilities by welcoming Robert Mayer as the IT Specialist to its esteemed staff. His focus will be on growing and improving USATT ratings and IT solutions. Robert has close to 30 years of experience as a professional software developer and has assisted USATT in this area since 2000. In that time, he has improved the membership database, connectivity to USATT resources, and developed the original USATT league system. In his new role, Robert is excited about “the opportunities to help USATT continue its evolution through technology as we seek new ways to enhance the service offerings to the membership.”
Robert got hooked on table tennis during his junior year in college at Missouri Southern in 1983 and played his first sanctioned tournament that same year. He’s competed in countless tournaments over the years including the US Open and US Nationals. Today, he primarily runs tournaments instead of competes, having run 60-80 events over the past 30 years. Using his software engineering mindset, he’s always looking for creative ways to make them more interesting and efficient for everyone involved.
A southern native, Robert grew up in Missouri and has lived and worked throughout the south-central US. He currently resides in Houston, TX. You can reach Robert at Robert.Mayer@usatt.org regarding any IT or rating specific inquiries.
