2016 US Olympian Tom Feng has made a great impression in his first appearance in the first division of the Austrian Table Tennis League. He recently competed in his first match, travelling to Austria to compete with SolexConsult TTC Weiner Neustadt. Feng has recently refocused on his table tennis ambitions after relocating to New York City where he is studying and representing NYU in the NCTTA. Feng admits there are more opportunities for him to practice since moving and is looking forward to the collegiate table tennis season, with their second divisional not too far away.
Feng was able to perform well in his league match appearance, helping his team to victory by winning both of his singles matches and then pairing with Alexander Chen to win the doubles match. The 2015 US National Champion was very happy with the result and the first experience:
"It felt great and amazing after winning my first match and I will continue to work hard for future matches. My plan is to continue to work hard to maintain my spot and work together with TTTeamUSA to promote and achieve more in international tournaments representing the United States. Right now I'm trying my best to prepare for the World Team Cup. Feng is no stranger to international competition and has played some impressive matches, just last year at the World University Games he led 2-1 against Japan's Masaki Yoshida, at the time a world top 25 player. At the 2016 World Cup he also had a narrow defeat to one of the world's best Lee Sangsu and let's not forget at the 2015 Joola Team Championships he defeated Nigeria's Quadri Aruna.
Feng's return to the national team was highlighted in his return to the USATT Supercamp at the end of 2017 and now he looks to continue his aspirations to competing internationally and representing team USA.
