Lily Zhang

As the only U.S. athlete to compete at the Olympic Games prior to competing in the Youth Olympic Games, Lily Zhang (Palo Alto, California) took home the bronze medal after defeating Miyu Kato of Japan, 4-2, at the 2014 Youth Olympic Games, held Aug. 16-28 in Nanjing, China. Zhang’s win marks the first table tennis medal for Team USA in Youth Olympic Games competition.

Krish Avvari

As the youngest male table tennis participant, Krishnateja Avvari (Fremont, California) finished 25th at the 2014 Youth Olympic Games, held Aug. 17-23 in Nanjing, China. Prior to the Youth Olympic Games, Avvari won the cadet bronze medal at the 2014 Junior and Cadet Open, held Aug. 6-10 in Hong Kong.
