Four-time U.S. Paralympian Tahl Leibovitz (Queens, New York) reached the quarterfinals of class 9 at the ITTF World Para Championships, held Sept. 6-15 in Beijing. Leibovitz dominated pool play with wins over Spain’s Gonzalez and Mexico’s Vazquez in a pair of 3-0 victories, and then defeated Vadym Kubov of Ukraine, 3-1 before falling in 5 games to Nozdrunov (RUS). Leibovitz is currently ranked No. 6 in the world in class 9.

Crystal WangCrystal Wang

U.S. world team member Crystal Wang (Boyds, Maryland) won two gold medals at the 2014 North American Championship, held Sept. 1 in Mississauga, Ontario. Wang secured the junior girls singles title and then partnered with Amy Wang (Sewell, New Jersey) and Angela Guan (San Jose, California) for a 3-0 victory over Canada. With the wins, Wang helped Team USA earn a berth to the ITTF World Junior Table Tennis Championships.

US Men's Singles Champion Timothy Wang (Houston, Texas) captured the silver medal at the 2014 North American Championship, held Sept. 1 in Mississauga, Ontario. Wang eliminated Xavier Therien of Canada, 4-1, in the quarterfinals and American teammate Yahao Zhang (Dallas, Texas), 4-0, in the semifinals. In the finals, Wang ran into top-seed Eugene Wang of Canada, where he dropped a 4-1 decision for the silver medal.
