USATT Will Expand the Organization’s Use of Switcher Studio Software to Produce

Cost-Effective, Professional Broadcast Quality Video Presentations of Table Tennis Events in 2021

(COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado, January 7, 2021)USA Table Tennis (USATT), the national governing body for the sport of table tennis, announced today that it has joined forces with Switcher Studio, naming Switcher the USATT’s Official Live Video Software Sponsor. USATT utilized the Switcher software for live remote broadcasts of the first season of their recently completed T2 Challenge, America's first virtual table tennis tournament, and they will expand the organization’s use of Switcher to create cost-effective, professional-quality video broadcasts of table tennis events in the upcoming year.

“We’re thrilled to expand our relationship with Switcher so we can continue to improve the quality of our live video production of our special tournaments and events,” said USATT CEO Virginia Sung. “In 2020, we believed that it was critical for our organization to find a cost-effective solution to provide professional broadcast-quality video content to the table tennis community, and the Switcher Studio app provided that solution for us. We were extremely pleased with all aspects of this software during the production of season one of our T2 Challenge, and we look forward to leveraging Switcher in season two of that event — and many other table tennis events to come.”

“Switcher provided the perfect solution for our live video production needs,” said Sean O’Neill, the high-performance director and broadcast commentator for USATT. “I’ve been fortunate in my career to be involved in a number of extremely high-end television broadcasts of elite level table tennis matches, and our goal was to recreate that experience at a cost that made sense for our organization. We’ve found that the Switcher product — which allows for a live, remote multicamera broadcast on simple-to-use iOS equipment that most organizations already have — allowed us to accomplish this goal. This has been particularly important in the time of COVID, when the importance of remote, live and low-costs broadcasts of sporting events has taken on a completely new meaning.”

“We’re excited to join forces with USA Table Tennis,” said Switcher CEO and co-founder Nick Mattingly. “USA Table Tennis exemplifies Switcher’s possibilities. Their T2 Challenge demonstrates how Switcher can be used to create multicamera broadcasts complete with scoreboard, sponsor ads, logos and on-screen commentary from announcers who not only weren’t at the match but were also in two different cities. And because Switcher is a compact mobile solution, USATT could easily film T2 Challenge play across multiple locations. Switcher empowers teams and businesses of all sizes, like USATT, with a mobile video production studio built around devices they already own.”

After its founding in 2014, Switcher Studio, which has offices in Louisville, Kentucky, and Yverdon-les-Bains, Switzerland, had an immediate impact on the then-nascent live video broadcast industry. For the first time, Switcher enabled anyone to create and broadcast professional-quality live video from multiple camera angles using readily available Apple iOS devices. This, combined with the relatively modest internet connection speeds required, created an immediate demand for the software. In a current season in which nearly every industry has needed new ways to communicate remotely in real time, Switcher has continued to expand its reach, substantially growing its customer base during COVID.

Other sports organizations interested in learning more about how Switcher Studio can help them create professional-quality live remote broadcasts on basic Apple iOS equipment are encouraged to contact USATT for more insight and information.
