USATT AND STAG RE-JOIN FORCES FOR US NATIONAL TABLE TENNIS CHAMPIONSHIPS

India-based Sports Equipment Manufacturer to Provide Tables,

Umpire Scoring Tables, Scoreboards, and Barriers for US Nationals Through 2023

(Colorado Springs, CO – November 12, 2020) – USA Table Tennis (“USATT”), the US National Governing Body for the sport of table tennis, today announced an agreement with Stag, an India-based manufacturer and distributor of table tennis equipment, to serve as the Official Table Sponsor for the US National Table Tennis Championships in 2021, 2022, and 2023.

Under the terms of the agreement, Stag will serve as the exclusive provider for tables and net sets for the US Nationals over the next three years. Stag will also serve as the primary sponsor for umpires scoring tables, scoreboards, and barriers. USATT and Stag are expected to put into play at US Nationals the elite level “Americas 16” table, which was also used at the 2019 US Open Table Tennis Championships in Fort Worth, Texas. The America’s 16 table has also been used at a wide variety of elite level international table tennis events including the 2018 Youth Olympic Games and the U-21 European Championships since 2017.

“I’m extremely excited by our latest agreement with Stag,” said USATT Chief Executive Officer, Virginia Sung. “We had an excellent experience with Stag at our 2019 US Open in Fort Worth. The participants in that event were extremely complimentary about the qualify of the tables and other Stag equipment that was put into play. The team at Stag is extremely experienced and has been a great group to work with. They are extremely knowledgeable about the latest developments in table tennis equipment, and USATT looks forward to growing the American table tennis market in many ways with them over the next three years.”

"We’re looking forward to working with USATT again – and for a long time to come,” said Stag’s Chairman Rakesh Kohli. “ We have said before that we believe America has the potential to be an incredibly important force in the world table tennis community. While working with USATT on the US Open in Fort Worth, we realized how much excitement there is for our sport in the US, and we look forward to being a big part of its continuing growth and development. We are also excited to continue our efforts to further additional collaboration with USATT including, when it’s safe for everyone, to have the US National Team visit India in order to expand the relationship between our two countries."

Stag, which is based in Meerut, India, began as a family run business in 1922 under the leadership of LalaArjan Das Kohli and has continued its family-based structure for some 98 years, expanding its reach to over 200 countries throughout the world, including the United States. Stag, who is a long-time partner with the International Table Tennis Federation as well as a Supplier Pool Member of the European Table Tennis Union, currently serves as a sponsor for 57 separate national teams throughout the world.

A significant focus of Stag’s business culture is to expand athletic opportunity for everyone – and particularly persons in need. These company values are well represented by Stag’s primary brand ambassador, five-time world champion Peter Karlsson, who is an important member of ‘Champions for Peace,’ a 54-member group of elite athletes who are dedicated to promoting peace in the world through sport. In this regard, Stag’s reach extends far beyond the table tennis world into producing high quality equipment for many sports, including gymnastics, wrestling and judo.

The 2021 US Nationals Table Tennis Championships are currently planned for July 4 through July 9, 2021, at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.  More information about USATT is available at www.usatt.org.
