USATT and the Happy Paradise Foundation Present 2019 Pong4Kids Grant Recipients

USA TABLE TENNIS AND THE HAPPY PARADISE FOUNDATION CONTINUE
TO SUPPORT GRASSROOTS TABLE TENNIS THROUGH PONG4KIDS GRANT

Support ranges from Tables, Balls, Memberships and Assistance in Hosting
a USATT Sanctioned Tournament

 

January 17, 2020, Colorado Springs, CO – USA Table Tennis, in partnership with the Happy Paradise Foundation, today announced the recipients of the 2019 Pong4Kids grants.

The partnership between Happy Paradise Foundation and USATT continues to blossom with greater efforts to support grassroots table tennis development
and community programs across the United States.

“"Happy Paradise is glad to be able to support table tennis in these communities,” says Paul Moyland, President of the Happy Paradise Foundation, “We look forward to continuing to work with USATT to expand the reach of table tennis in the USA. Kudos to all who participated in this year's applications!”

The grant continues to expand, this year granting one program a free one year USATT affiliation, with free memberships to every member of that organization sixteen years of age or younger, and also presenting several programs with the STAG Americas 16 tables from the recent 2019 Seamaster US Open in Fort Worth, Texas.

Congratulations to the recipients of the 2019 Pong4Kids Grants:


1. Team 6789 (Marietta, GA) – One STAG America’s 16 Table; One Gross of TT balls; a One-Year Club Affiliation Membership; Each Member of the Club will receive a one-year USATT membership; and USATT will support a sanctioned tournament at their club at some point in the year;

2. Department of Children, Youth and Families (Ellensburg, WA) – One STAG America’s 16 Table; One Gross of TT balls;

3. South Bend Table Tennis (South Bend, IN) – One STAG America’s 16 Table; One Gross of TT balls;

4. Wheeler High (North Stonington, CT) – One STAG America’s 16 Table; One Gross of TT balls

5. Wildcats Table Tennis Club (Chapel Hill, NC) – One Gross of TT balls;

6. Genesee Table Tennis Club (Rochester, NY) – One Gross of TT balls;

7. Adventist Union Table Tennis Team (Bellflower, CA) – One Gross of TT balls;

8. West Covina Hills Adventist School (West Covina, CA) – One Gross of TT balls.

Team 6789 in Georgia was awarded to top grant for their table tennis program and were excited to hear the news.

"Thanks to USATT and Happy Paradise Foundation for sponsoring this program and offering the much needed Award Grant to support our club and our SatTTT program. This recognition will help us expand our program and attract more young players to join our team/club with the mission of introducing this great sport to more young students.” - Team 6789.

While the program continues to grow each year, USATT is grateful for the partnership with the Happy Paradise Foundation in the vision to boost grassroots table tennis and community projects, a sentiment echoed by USATT COO Mark Thompson.

“USATT wants to thank everyone who submitted a grant proposal for the 2019 Pong4Kids program,” said Mark Thompson, the USATT Chief Operating Officer. “It’s exciting to see so many people committed to introducing the sport of table tennis to young people in our great country, as well as growing and supporting the game. We’re thrilled to be a part of delivering such high quality equipment to these youth programs. Of course, USATT would also like to extend our special thanks to our partner in this project, the Happy Paradise Foundation, who not only makes this entire grant process possible, but also does it with a genuine energy and excitement that appears to stem from a deep commitment to the improvement of opportunities for young people, as well as the growth of our sport."
