Sweden's Matilda Ekholm is the headline entry among the current players for the 2019 Seamaster US Open Table Tennis Championships which will take place from December 17-21 in Fort Worth, Texas.
The 2016 Rio Olympian brings her international skill and reputation to the main Women's Singles event which offers $8,000US for the champion, in an event sanctioned on the ITTF Calendar for World Ranking.
Currently ranked 28th in the world, and having been ranked as high as 20th, Ekholm is well known for her fighting spirit both on and off the table. The left handed Swede is well known for her dynamic playing style and tenacity in open rallies, which should provide spectators for the annual event with the international level of competition they all dream to watch.
While entries don't close until November 15th, Ekholm is currently the standout international entry in the draw, and sits alongside other high level competitors, the likes of defending Champion Liu Juan of the USA - a 2-time US Open champ.
As Fort Worth prepares, there are now 590 players registered in Omnipong for the important event on the US calendar.
Over 85 events are on offer, with a generous prizepool of over $50,000 in total.
As well as STAG being the new official table for the tournament, the Nittaku Premium ball returns for the pinnacle event. We look forward to seeing some great competition.
