Playing twice a week with friends at the New York Indoor Sports Club in College Point, New York, Sam Zhu says he plays for the social nature of the game and for exercise and health benefits.
As a young man, Mr Zhu played in his city team in the Jiangsu province in China, but had a 20 year hiatus from the game until picking it back up again in 2006.
“I love table tennis, it's a very good non-contact sport and one people can enjoy, while also gaining exercise,” says Mr Zhu.
Mr Zhu has come along was from being a city table tennis player in China, he now owns several reputable companies.
His first company Fashion River Company Ltd is a garment business which focuses on importing and exporting, mainly between the USA and China, and a second company Global Design Group is an investment company, among others.
Mr Zhu has become a strong supporter of USA Table Tennis, offering generous financial support and wishes for two main outcomes in the future -
“I would first like for more people to play table tennis, for the sport to become more popular in the USA. Second I would like to see better training for the US National Team and see them improving and achieving good results at the Olympic Games and at International competitions. I am hopeful that under the new leadership of Virginia Sung, the sport can make that progress.”
We sincerely thank Mr Zhu for his financial support of USA Table Tennis and for his enthusiasm and passion for our sport.
