Kanak Jha will be the player to watch this coming week at the 2017 SuperMicro US National Table Tennis Championships in Las Vegas. Jha will be the top seed coming into the tournament, aiming to defend his title from 2016 where he staged an incredible comeback to overcome 2015 National Champion Yijun Feng in the final at the Brooklyn Bowl.

As the big event nears it has been Kanak Jha whose form has started to blossom as the final celebration beckons. Training and competing overseas in Sweden, Jha has started to see the results of his hard work. Achieving a career win at the World Table Tennis Championships where he defeated Romania's Adrian Crisan before losing in the last 32 to teammate Mattias Karlsson, 4-2, Kanak's form has taken flight in the past few months.

'Performing well internationally always gives me a good feeling of confidence and I have felt in good form for the last few weeks. I will be looking to maintain that feeling for the upcoming Nationals' - Kanak Jha.

Indeed in the past few weeks Jha was the force to be reckoned with in South America, claiming 4 gold medals in two international tournaments. He swept the field on his 17th birthday to take the Argentina Junior Open crown before going on to win a trio of gold medals at the Pan American Junior Championships. There he won the team gold with USA, the singles and the doubles with Sharon Alguetti - his direct challenger, the second seed for next week's National crown.

There will be plenty of competition looking to take down the defending champ with over 120 players entered in the Men's Singles event. Kanak will of course hold on to the feeling of winning a national title and aim for the top spot again.

'I've been playing the Nationals since I was very young and had always dreamed of winning the title so it really felt amazing to finally do it' - Kanak Jha.

We will wait and see what the young champion can bring to the table in what promises to be a week of exciting table tennis at the Las Vegas Convention Center, with the main events coming to a conclusion on July 7th at the Silverton Casino in a very unique celebration.
