To: USATT Umpires and Referees

From: Joseph Yick, URC chair

Subject: SafeSport/Background Check Compliance Required for Participation in USATT Activities and Sanctioned Tournaments

As you are aware, USATT has required all officials (i.e., umpires, referees) to pass the SafeSport tutorial examination and meet background check requirements. As such, USATT has posted on its website access to information for all SafeSport/background check compliant officials in the United States. The URC, in cooperation with USATT headquarters, has recently ensured that all U.S. officials who are serving at the upcoming U.S. Open in December in Las Vegas are 100% compliance with both SafeSport and background check requirements.

Consistent with the above policy, the URC now wishes to inform you that all umpires and referees must be SafeSport and background check compliant to serve in their official capacity in any USATT-related activity, including service in USATT-sanctioned tournaments nationwide or in tournament assignments overseas. In other words, umpires and referees who are SafeSport or background check noncompliant are now prohibited from serving as officials nationwide in any USATT sanctioned tournaments or other USATT activities, such as in tournament assignments overseas.

If you have not already passed the SafeSport examination and the background check requirements, the URC reminds you to please do so as soon as possible.

All information regarding compliance and how to complete Safesport Requirements can be found on the USA Table Tennis website:
