11 Questions with Frank Caliendo

1) Why do you play?

Well, golf wasn't active enough and I needed something to frustrate me in my "free time". Exercise is key.

2) Which is your favorite tournament?

I've only played in 2 tournaments, I think. So, I'll say the U.S. Open. It's my favorite place to be humbled.

3) Who is your primary nemesis?

Primary nemesis? I'm going to say Ma Long. Our styles seem to cancel each other out.

4) What is your favorite game tactic to score?

It would have to be my super sonic ace serve. I can only do it once per match because it takes all my energy.... But it's worth it. I love only getting one great point in a match... And that's the one.

5) Thoughts on the Poly Ball

I thought I was going to hate it, but the rallies seem much better. It's taken a little bit of getting used to, but in the end, I like it.

6) Toughest Loss?

Toughest loss?  Probably against Ma Long at the US Open with the original poly ball. I had used up my Super sonic ace serve on the first point, and had nothing left. I got caught up in the moment and forgotten that I couldn't do anything after using it.

7) Greatest Win?

I'm still waiting for it. I have some good ones... But I am just so sure there are some better ones in the future that the current best ones will be irrelevant soon.

8) How you prepare for a tournament?

I show up. I wish I were kidding.

9) When you see a new player at the club, what do you do?

Honestly, I don't do too much. If their not hitting with anyone, I may try and hit with them... But if they seem to be getting into the flow well, I probably never even meet him or her.  I'm kind of a hermit who just happens to have a hobby.

10) Player you would most like to play in a tournament?

Judah Friedlander. He's the world champ. He's unbeatable. 'nuff said.

11) If you had to face Jimmy Butler what would your game plan be?

Easy. I would just hit hard at his backhand with no other tactic whatsoever.  If he's going to beat me ... I want him to beat me with his best stuff....
