2015 Butterfly Aurora Cup Kicks Off with Open Singles and Open Doubles on First Day of Play

2015 Aurora CupOver 300 players will arrive at the Vaughan Athletic Center in Aurora, Illinois on Saturday to participate in one of the largest tournaments in the US. Bright eyed juniors, first-timers and tournament veterans alike will compete for over $8,000 in prize money while having the opportunity to witness table tennis legends such as 2014 National Champion Jimmy Butler (2534), 2015 North American Tour Finals Invitee Ruichao Chen (2654), Canadian Junior Star Jeremy Hazin (2435) and many other top players from across the US and beyond.

12 events will commence on the first day of competition at the 2015 Butterfly Aurora Cup. Play begins at 9:00 a.m. CST on Saturday with the U-1900, U-1400 and the Under 18 Youth events. The main attraction, the Open Singles event, begins at 11:00 a.m. with preliminary round robins. The Open Doubles event begins at 6:30 p.m. In addition to the high level/professional matches, over 50 players will battle for titles in the U800 and Recreational Events beginning at 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m.

Excitement and anticipation have been building for weeks in the local Chicago area. Players, coaches and spectators alike look forward to a weekend filled with incredible table tennis, Midwestern friendliness, and fierce competition.
