Newly Crowned Men’s National Champion, Jimmy Butler to Compete at 2015 Butterfly Aurora Cup

Jimmy ButlerJimmy Butler (2534), 2014 Men’s National Champion, will make his second appearance at the Butterfly Aurora Cup this weekend. Seeded 4th behind 3 young Chinese trained player-coaches in the Open event, Jimmy is hoping to leverage his experience and knowledge of the game to improve upon his semi-final finish from last year.

Jimmy is one of the most decorated table tennis players in US history. He is 4x US National Champion, 2x Olympian and member of the USATT Hall of Fame. However, he is always looking to the future, and plans to use the 2015 Butterfly Aurora Cup to prepare for the USA National and Pan-Am Team Trials in March. He is “looking forward to the top level competition [at Aurora Cup]…getting sharp before the Team Trials is what I am trying to achieve…which involves me playing as many high level tournament competitions as possible.” The 2015 Butterfly Aurora Cup will surely provide Jimmy with solid high level competition from across the country.

Since last year’s appearance, Jimmy has competed in over 20 USATT sanctioned tournaments including the Butterfly Cary Cup, Butterfly LA Open, US Open, US Nationals and many others. Jimmy’s dedication to the sport and his amazing come-back story has inspired many across both the US and beyond to continue playing, improving and believing in the sport of table tennis.
