Lindenwood College Friends Seek Redemption at 2014 Butterfly Thanksgiving Teams Tournament
For most college students, Thanksgiving weekend offers an opportunity to relax, visit family and reconnect with hometown friends. However, 3 Lindenwood University teammates will be forgoing their time at home for a chance to gain redemption at the 2014 Butterfly Thanksgiving Teams event. Pennsylvania brother duo and current Lindenwood students Gabriel (2341) and Micaiah Skolnick (2270) will team up with fellow student Felipe Morita (2392) to compete for the $1500 top prize at this year’s Butterfly Thanksgiving Teams Tournament.
Lindenwood University (located near St. Louis, MO) ensures that all members of its table tennis team are tournament tough by sending them to many competitions throughout the semester. However, due to budget and holiday concerns, the school decided to not attend the Butterfly Thanksgiving Teams event. Nevertheless, Gabriel, Micaiah and Felipe signed up on their own accord to fight for the title.
In May of this year, Gabriel and Micaiah competed along with other Lindenwood students Patricio Pereyra and Maria Costello at the 2014 American’s Team Championship in Rockford, Illinois. After finishing in a disappointing 3rd place, Gabriel and Micaiah vowed to redeem themselves at the next teams tournament they could attend. The Butterfly Thanksgiving Teams event will give the competitive brother duo and Felipe a chance to win the title over the holiday weekend.
