The 2014 Butterfly St. Louis Open kicks off Saturday morning with inaugural “Elite Event”. Restricted to only U.S. citizens, this event will feature some of today’s most dedicated American table tennis players. From up-and-coming juniors, USATT hall-of-famers, prominent coaches and table tennis fans, the “Elite Event” will feature all the best America has to offer in terms of variety, skill and table tennis background.

The “Elite Event” is led by 4 player-coaches, Mark Hazinski (2530), Samson Dubina (2490), Danny Seemiller (2448) and Joey Cochran (2399). Each of these players has made their mark on USA table tennis through their inspiring play, and their desire to share the sport with those around them. As players and as coaches, their dedication to the sport is obvious. Many of their proud fans and students will definitely be cheering them on from across the U.S. this weekend.

Other events taking place on Saturday include the Over-40 event, which features USATT hall of famer David Sakai (2139), and rating events ranging from the U-800 to the U2300. Sunday will feature the traditional Open Singles event, Open Doubles, Hardbat Singles, U18 & U15 age events and other rating events.

Continual coverage of the St. Louis Open and stories about the athletes will be available at, or via Butterfly North America’s twitter and facebook pages.
