Place Your Quick Attacks

Larry Hodges When attacking a ball right off the bounce with their backhands, most players automatically go crosscourt to the opponent’s backhand. That’s not usually the most effective place to go. There are three places you should normally aim for: wide forehand, wide backhand and middle. A player’s forehand defense is usually not as quick as their backhand defense, so unless your opponent is quick enough to launch a powerful forehand attack, it’s usually more effective to go to the wide forehand. Even more effective is to go right at the opponent’s playing elbow, and force an even more awkward return.
