Competition Heats Up At US Junior Olympic Championships

OXFORD, Ohio – More champions were crowned Tuesday at the U.S. Junior Olympic Championships.

Emileen Moore and Dalia Ovadia of the Walnut Creek Aquanuts added to their medal haul, finishing 1-2 in the 12 & Under solo free final. Moore won the event with 130.815 total points, while Ovadia was second at 129.926. Elle Santana of the Arizona Desert Dolphins won the bronze with 124.916 points.

Moore and Ovadia won gold medals in duet and team on Monday.

Finals were also held in the 13-15 age group on Tuesday.

Walnut Creek’s Ryan Lewis and Ariana Stanton won gold in the 13-15 duet free final, finishing with 139.1614 points. The Santa Clara Aquamaids’ Brianna Holmes and Rachel Holmes took silver at 136.6018, followed by teammates Riley Morgan and Lydia Yi, who had 135.3544 points.

Morgan also won gold in the 13-15 solo free final with 138.6913 points. Seattle Synchro’s Keana Hunter took silver at 135.4719 points, and Victoria Zimm of the Arizona Desert Dolphins earned bronze at 135.4070.

Walnut Creek won the 13-15 team final with 136.477 combined points, just edging Santa Clara (135.343). The New Canaan Y Aquianas were third at 132.548.

The 13-15 and 16-19 combo finals will be held Wednesday.
