Walnut Creek 12U Swimmers Come Up Big at US Junior Olympic Championships

OXFORD, Ohio – Emileen Moore and Dalia Ovadia of the Walnut Creek Aquanuts each won two gold medals Monday in 12 & Under finals at the U.S. Junior Olympic Championships.

Moore and Ovadia won the 12U duet free with 132.3047 combined points (67.1333 and 65.1714 in figures). Gianna Bonacorso and Perry Daniel of the Santa Clara Aquamaids took silver at 125.4294 (64.7000 duet + 60.7294 figures), and Walnut Creek’s Carmen Kawakami and Morgan Woelfel earned bronze with 124.8654 (64.0667 + 60.7987) points.

Walnut Creek also won the 12U team final, finishing with 127.545 total points (66.3000 + 61.2455 figures). Santa Clara was second at 126.144 (66.0667 + 60.0777), and the New Canaan Y Aquianas were third with 117.079 (61.4333 + 55.6460).

Finals on Tuesday include the 12U solo and 13-15 solo, duet and team.
