USA Wins Silver in Combo at FINA World Series

SURREY, B.C. – The U.S. Senior National Team capped off a long day at the FINA Artistic Swimming World Series event in Canada by winning silver in the combo free Friday night.

Team USA scored 84.5333 points to finish second behind Ukraine (92.9000).

Earlier, the U.S. finished fifth in team free, and Anita Alvarez and Ruby Remati took seventh in duet tech.

Alvarez and Remati scored 83.7205 points, with duets from Japan (91.5126), Ukraine (90.9190) and host Canada (88.6506) earning spots on the podium.

The U.S. finished with 83.6667 points in the team free event. Ukraine won with 93.2000 points.

“The free team swam with more confidence. It was a good swim for this time of year,” U.S. National Team Coach Lolli Montico said. “The duet tech was great. Step by step, Ruby is getting close to Anita’s style and technique. It’s a beautiful pair.”

Remati and Yara Elian are scheduled to compete in the duet free event on Saturday.
