Tech Team Finishes Fifth in Canada

June 01, 2018, 9:53 a.m. (ET)

SURREY, B.C. - The U.S. Senior National Synchronized Swimming Team finished fifth in the team tech event Thursday night at the FINA Artistic Swimming World Series in Surrey, B.C., Canada.

Team USA scored 83.003 points, just behind France (84.1938). Ukraine won the event with 90.7305 points, followed by Japan (90.3419) and host Canada (86.5904).

“They had a much more confident swim. There were a few synchro errors and more work in elements needs to be done, but they improved their score from the China Open and that’s a good sign,” U.S. National Team Coach Lolli Montico said. “We got lots of nice feedback from the judges about how nice they look for their young age. We are happy coaches.”

The U.S. is scheduled to compete in the team free, duet tech and combo free events on Friday.

Competing for Team USA at the Canada Artistic Swimming World Series are Anita Alvarez (Buffalo, N.Y.), Grace Alwan (Andover, Mass.), Paige Areizaga (Palm Coast, Fla.), Yara Elian (Walnut Creek, Calif.), Nicole Goot (San Jose, Calif.), Hannah Heffernan (Las Vegas, Nev.), Cassandra Neeley (Williamsville, N.Y.), Daniella Ramirez (Miami, Fla.), Ruby Remati (Andover, Mass.), Abby Remmers (Sugar Land, Texas) and team captain Emma Tchakmakjian (New Canaan, Conn.)
