Lindsay Papper, a 17-year-old member of the Rocky Mountain Splash, has been named the SwimOutlet.com Athlete of the Month for January.

Lindsay, the team captain, was the North Zone 2017 Senior Individual High Point Award recipient and helped lead the Splash to the Team Senior High Point Award.

“Not only is she an advocate for synchronized swimming in all aspects of her life, but she also strives for the sport’s greatness in everything she does,” said Lila Salley, who nominated Lindsay. “She frequently helps the younger girls on our team by warming them up at meets and coaching the summer lesson program. She's an all-around amazing leader. Her work ethic is unparalleled, and her passion for the sport is inspiring. As team captain she not only serves as an inspiration for us, her team, but the entire association. In fact, she was voted our association Senior athlete representative.”

In addition to her high point honors, Lindsay has also earned her team’s Inspiration Banana many times – an award that the Splash’s trainer, Hannah Sphatt, gives out to the teammate who goes above and beyond and exhibits the qualities of the ultimate leader and teammate, Salley said. “While this may not seem as prestigious as the previous awards, it means so much to her and our whole team. Lindsay works incredibly hard at the pool and just in her entire life.”
