TOKYO – Team USA’s Anita Alvarez (Buffalo, N.Y.) and Ruby Remati (Andover, Mass.) finished 10th in duet tech Saturday at the Japan Open.

The duo scored 80.9699 points. Japan’s Yukiko Inui and Kanami Nakamaki topped the podium with 91.0427 points, followed by Italy’s Linda Cerruti and Costanza Ferro (88.4489) and Spain’s Paula Ramirez and Sara Saldana (87.0721).

“That was a better swim than we had in China, but we still need to continue to work and improve,” said Elvira Khasyanova, an assistant coach with the U.S. Senior National Team. “For tomorrow, I want to see more energy and power.”

Alvarez and Remati will next compete in the duet free preliminary Sunday morning (local time). The Japan Open is being live streamed at https://www.finatv.live/en (subscription required).
