Vince DeFriese selected as Commissioner for USA Softball of Northern California

OKLAHOMA CITY – USA Softball, a volunteer-driven, not-for-profit organization, announced today the appointment of Vince DeFriese (San Mateo, Calif.) as Commissioner for USA Softball of Northern California. DeFriese will take over responsibilities beginning on October 1.

“I am extremely honored to be selected as the USA Softball of Northern California Commissioner,” said DeFriese. “Being involved with softball and other sports for many years, I am excited to share my passion for the game with USA Softball specifically. I’m also looking forward to working with our passionate staff members to build and enhance the overall program throughout Northern California.” 

DeFriese transitions into the role of Commissioner with more than 30 years of experience in various levels of youth softball, including coaching recreational and travel ball teams – one of which was the first youth U.S. girls’ softball team to travel to Toyonaka, Japan for a tournament in 2018. Continuing his involvement in the sport, his contributions extended to serving as an Athletic Director and President for various youth softball associations, including the San Mateo Youth Softball Association (16 years) and the Peninsula Girls’ Softball Association (seven years).

A native to Northern California, DeFriese attended the College of San Mateo, Calif. where he took part in a vocational training program prior to taking on roles in sales, project management, senior management and consulting. Outside of USA Softball, DeFriese currently serves as Special Assistant to the President for Artichoke Joes where he oversees over 430 employees including Surveillance & Facilities/Maintenance Management and is a compliance committee member.
