OKLAHOMA CITY – USA Softball, a volunteer-driven, not-for-profit organization announced today that Dave Adelhart (Gladstone, Ore.) has been appointed as Commissioner for USA Softball of Oregon. Adelhart transitions into this position following the retirement of Commissioner Mike Wells.
“I am humbled and honored to be the next Commissioner for USA Softball of Oregon,” said Adelhart. “Following the great example Mike Wells has set during his role as Commissioner will be a tough challenge, but I look forward to expanding and strengthening our Adult, Youth and Umpire programs within the state. I see an opportunistic future for USA Softball of Oregon and I am anxious to move forward in the role as Commissioner.”
Prior to being named Commissioner, Adelhart most recently held the position of Junior Olympic (JO) Commissioner for USA Softball of Oregon where he served for the last seven years. In addition to that experience, Adelhart has led in numerous other roles within USA Softball including District 5 Commissioner, Deputy State Commissioner and Region 9 JO Commissioner. His involvement in the sport began in 1997 as a registered USA Softball coach before becoming the President of a local softball organization and head coach at Oregon City High School in 2003. Adelhart currently serves as a member of the USA Softball of Oregon Board of Directors and helps to coordinate Region 9 teams for the USA Softball All-American Games.
Outside of the sport, Adelhart has worked as a Superintendent and Project Manager for multiple construction companies and currently holds the title of Facilities Manager at Clackamas County Children’s Commission where he oversees 10 centers across the county while working with construction companies on special projects and remodeling as well as scheduling and prioritizing work schedules. Adelhart is a Veteran of the United States Army where he served from 1971-1974.
