GAINESVILLE, Fla. –– The University of Florida F Club and Gator Boosters announced Thursday afternoon that former Florida softball standout and long-time USA Softball Women’s National Team (WNT) member, Michelle Moultrie, will be inducted into the UF Athletic Hall of Fame as a member of the 2022 class. Moultrie’s induction will make her the fourth softball player to be inducted into the UF Athletic Hall of Fame.
“We applaud the University of Florida for recognizing Michelle as a Hall of Famer for all she accomplished on the field,” said USA Softball Chief Sport Development/Performance Officer, Chris Sebren. “USA Softball has been fortunate to have her as part of our program for the past several years, not only as an athlete, but as a member of our Board of Directors as well and we look forward to her continued involvement in years to come. Congratulations to Michelle on this much deserved accomplishment.”
The Gator alumni finished her UF career (2009-2012) as the single season record holder for on base percentage (.519), triples (5) and stolen bases (31) in addition to a pair of career records in batting average (.395) and stolen bases (83). A two-time National Fast Pitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-American, Moultrie was the fourth player in Florida softball history to be named SEC Player of the Year (2012) and was named the 2011 Women’s College World Series (WCWS) Co-Most Outstanding Player after leading the tournament in hits (13), doubles (2), home runs (4), total bases (27) and stolen bases (3). Additional accolades for Moultrie include 2009 SEC All-Freshman Team, 2010 & 2011 All-SEC Second Team and 2012 All-SEC First Team while being named to the 2009 SEC Freshman Academic Honor Roll and SEC Academic Honor Roll in 2010, 2011 and 2012.
“I am so honored to be inducted into the UF Athletic Hall of Fame,” said Moultrie. “The support and experience that I had as a collegiate athlete at Florida impacted my life and career in ways that I had never dreamed of. I’m grateful to God, my family, my teammates, coaches and so many other. Go Gators!”
A member of the USA Softball Women’s National Team since 2011, Moultrie has helped lead the U.S. to four World Cup gold medals, three Pan American Games gold medals and two World Championship gold medals in addition to the long-awaited Olympic medal victory where Moultrie and Team USA earned silver at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
