OKLAHOMA CITY –– USA Softball announced today the 16-player roster and one replacement athlete selected to represent the U.S. as part of the 2022 USA Softball Men’s National Team (MNT). Selected by members of the Men’s National Team Selection Committee (MNTSC), the 2022 roster is set to compete at the Americas Qualifier in Paraná, Argentina slated for February 19-27, 2022 – a qualifying tournament for the 2022 World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) Men’s World Championship in Auckland, New Zealand scheduled for November 2022.

“We are proud of all these athletes as they have put in the work needed to be named to this team,” said 2022 MNT Head Coach, Ron Hackett. “They’re a great group of young men and will represent USA softball well as we strive for a gold medal."

Representing the Red, White and Blue will be a roster that includes seven veteran members from the 2019 WBSC Men’s World Championship and Pan American Games rosters that earned the program’s first Pan American Games silver medal since 2003. Among the veterans are Tony Mancha (Las Cruces, N.M.) and Nick Mullins (Toms River, N.J.) who have been a member of the MNT program since 2015, participating in two Pan American Games and three WBSC World Championships for the U.S.

Announced in February, Hackett will lead Team USA in their quest to the podium in 2022. Hackett joined the MNT as an Assistant Coach in 2019 and has helped lead the U.S. to a second-place finish at the Pan American Games and a fifth-place finish at the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) World Cup during the 2019 season. The complete coaching staff and list of National Team events, including exhibition games, will be released at a later date.

"We look forward to going to the qualifier in Argentina,” said Hackett. “This group has lofty goals in mind as we prepare for the world tournament later in the year, but first we need to focus on the qualifier and competing there as we look to ensure our spot in New Zealand."

The USA Softball Men’s Fast Pitch National Team garners nine WBSC Men's Softball World Championship medals, including five gold medals (1966, 1968, 1976, 1980 and 1988), one silver medal (1972) and three bronze medals (1984, 1992 and 2000). In the Pan American Games, Team USA has advanced to eight gold medal games while claiming the silver medal each time. To learn more about the USA Softball Men’s National Team Program, visit
