Region 7 | One of the best things that UIC’s get to do is hand out medals and awards. In 2019, at Colorado’s Master Clinic, we handed out a few awards, none more important than this one for JW Sloan as the Umpire of the Year. Sloan is an ordained minister and takes his ministry to the softball fields while taking care of the 10U’s with caring hands. Because of Sloan's dedication, the girls learn great sportsmanship, patience, and he is a stickler for teaching the rule intricacies to coaches, players and parents alike. Congratulations JW Sloan from all the Members of the USA Softball of Colorado and beyond. |

Region 7 | The 2019 year proved that we are in great hands in the future. Justin Blakesly, a legacy in USA Softball of Colorado, is our Rookie of the Year and is very, very deserving of the recognition. He has worked on his game management, rules, and mechanics, and especially his umpire gear. He follows the veterans and asks great questions and continues to set an exceptionally good example as a newbie umpire. He has a few years of experience under his belt, but has earned the rookie of the year because of the way he has embraced USA Softball. Keep it up Justin, you are an inspiration for the young umpires coming into this avocation. |
