Ron Taylor appointed as Commissioner for USA Softball of St. Louis

OKLAHOMA CITY – USA Softball, a volunteer-driven, not-for-profit organization announced today that Ron Taylor (St. Peters, Mo.) has been appointed as Commissioner for USA Softball of St. Louis. Taylor will assume responsibilities beginning Jan. 1 following the retirement of Commissioner Mel Pinkley.


“I’m honored to be selected as the Commissioner of USA Softball of St. Louis,” said Taylor. “I have big shoes to fill with the retirement of Mel Pinkley, but I am committed to continuing the leadership he has provided during his tenure. I look forward to working with the dedicated staff in St. Louis as we continue to build to relationships with our members and local associations.”


Prior to being named Commissioner, Taylor held the position of Junior Olympic (JO) Commissioner for USA Softball of St. Louis for five years after running tournaments for the organization since 2011. With over 25 years of additional experience as a coach and administrator in the sport, Taylor is committed to growing the game in the St. Louis area through coach and umpire trainings, marketing and promotion, and by connecting with the local community.


Outside of USA Softball, Taylor garners over 30 years of experience in St. Louis’ Hazelwood School District where he rose through the ranks from a maintenance worker to a Construction Project Manager and Purchasing Director. Taylor was also a member of the St. Peters Athletic Association Board of Directors for 12 years where he served as President for five years.


Taylor graduated from St. Louis Community College before attending Southern Illinois University of Edwardsville where he received degrees in Business and Math.
