Men's Class A Slow Pitch Nationals: Day One Recap

OKLAHOMA CITY – High-scoring offenses highlighted opening day at the 2020 USA Softball Men’s Class A Slow Pitch National Championship. With every team recording double-digit runs in each contest, the home runs were flying as 157 balls went out of the park in today’s action.

Big winners of the day and advancing through the winner’s bracket were Chanticlear/P5 Sports/JEC/Extreme Graffix, Comatose/S2N/Monsta, Heartland Investors/Monsta Athletics, and Seminoles/TPS/NACSF. Inc. Three of the four squads picked up two victories on the day, with Chanticlear picking up a win in their sole game.

Comatose/S2N/Monsta had the largest win of the day, besting their opponent by 16 runs in a 31-15 (five innings) win. Mike Jacobson and Corey Volden each sent two out of the park, with Jacobson recording five RBI. Joining him with five RBI was Mitchell Dunse, who homered and doubled twice.


T’s 13 also had a strong offensive surge in a 31-16 win over VHI/Greater Than, a game which saw both squads put up double-digit runs in the seventh inning. With T’s 13 scoring in all but one inning, Joey Bulens had a monster day at the plate with seven RBI, all of which came off two home runs and four doubles. Mitch Loomis contributed six RBI for his team, homering twice.


Joining T’s 13 and Comatose with a run-rule victory was Seminoles/TPS/NACSF, who defeated Ductech/Monsta Athletics 28-13 (five innings). Using an 11-run third inning, Spencer Selby led the Seminoles with six runs driven in while he, Steven Smith and Kyndrich Doggett sent two out of the park each.
