OKLAHOMA CITY –– USA Softball, a volunteer-driven, not-for-profit organization, announced today that Bill Rodriguez (San Antonio, Texas) has been appointed as Commissioner of USA Softball of San Antonio. Rodriguez has resumed the role immediately following the retirement of former Commissioner Herman Garza.
“I am honored to be selected as the Commissioner of USA Softball of San Antonio,” said Rodriguez. “I am looking forward to working with all of the staff involved in this great city and to keep softball on the rise. I would like to thank Herman Garza for all of the time, hard work and effort he gave in making softball a priority in the city of San Antonio.”
Prior to taking on the role of Commissioner, Rodriguez worked as administrative staff for USA Softball of San Antonio where he assisted in day-to-day operations for adult and girls’ fastpitch softball leagues and worked alongside the Texas Amateur Athletic Federation. A member of USA Softball since the late 1970s, Rodriguez has served as Metro San Antonio Junior Olympic (JO) Commissioner, Girls’ Fastpitch State Commissioner and was an Allied Representative to USA Softball for two years.
Outside of USA Softball, Rodriguez has also held various positions within the Parks and Recreation department for the City of San Antonio, Texas and Thibodaux, Louisiana. Additionally, Rodriguez served in the United States Navy and is a Vietnam Veteran.
