March Blues Across America

Region 1 |

Ralph Mondoro is a member of USA Softball of Pennsylvania and began his umpiring career in 1984. Mondoro has worked 18 National Championships at the youth and adult levels and is also a member of the USA Softball medals program. Over Ralph's 36-year career, he also has umpired at the collegiate and high school levels. He has been the President and Association Umpire-In-Chief of the Dauphin County Umpires Association since 2008. 

Region 1 |

Frank Guglielmo, of USA Softball of New York City has been an umpire and varsity coach in both boy'’ and girl's basketball on Staten Island for over 30 years and has over 33 years in the NYC public school system. Guglielmo has umpired five National Championships in the 16U and 18U Gold National Championships. He became a member of the USA Softball Elite Umpire Program in 2019 and is a member of the National Indicator Fraternity as well as a becoming a Gold Medal in USA Softball Medals program.

Region 3 |

Greg Rivers (Chattanooga, Tenn.) from USA Softball of Tennessee has been an umpire for five years. Rivers attended the USA National Umpire School in Chattanooga, Tenn. in January of 2020. Greg is working on moving up in USA Softball and will take the skills learned at the National Umpire School and apply them in his games on the field.

 

  Region 7 |

Chuck French, Northern Area UIC Deputy USA Softball of Colorado, giving his “What coach, do we really need to be discussing balls and strikes? You’ve been so good all game” Chuck is also the new CHSSA (Colorado High School Sports Association) President.  He is accompanied by newly anointed Gold Medal Recipient and State UIC, Reese Robinson.

 

Region 7 |

USA Softball of Colorado, Iron Man Umpire Award J. W. Sloane with Bob Goble. Sloane logs over 150 games per year, mostly with the 10U.

Homer Griffith, USA Softball of St Louis, has been a pillar of excellence for ASA/USA for over 40 years.  He’s umpired both Fast Pitch (Women’s A & 18 Gold) & Slow Pitch (Men’s B, C, & D) and currently schedules and evaluates all the county slow pitch leagues. He’s been an Umpire Coordinator, AUIC, & UIC in championships around the state & locally. USA Softball of St. Louis is proud to have Homer as a member.

   

Region 7 |

USA Softball of Colorado Bob Goble presenting the Umpires of the Year awards to, Bill Moorman (left) and Aaron Cox (right). These two worked 3-person mechanics throughout the year, and for their hard work were rewarded with a call to Oklahoma to umpire the All-American National, 16U and 18U.

   

Region 7 |

Justin Blakesly, the newest Rookie of the Year with Bob Goble. Blakesly made a mark on USA Colorado Softball by following the veteran’s advice at every step and earned the Rookie award. Watch out for Justin as we expect him to rise fast in his avocation.

Patrick Nguyen, USA Softball of Washington, originally from Spartanburg, S.C. is currently serving in the United States Army as a Career Counselor stationed at Joint Base Lewis McChord in Washington. He is beginning his third season as an umpire. He is an exceptional umpire who brings his military bearing, leadership, and communication skills to the field. He is a soldier, husband, father, and great BLUE!
