As we near the start of the 2020 USA Softball GOLD National Championships, we're highlighting some of the teams who will take to the fields in Broken Arrow and Oklahoma City, Okla.

Meet the Waco Heat Gold – Rodriguez, a team competing in the 18-Under division. Based out of Waco, Texas, Head Coach David Rodriguez breaks down what you can expect to see from his 2020 roster.

What year was the team founded: 2012

Noteworthy events and recent tournaments: “We regularly play private college invites in Central Texas. We participate in many Elite Showcase events and Southern Collegiate Showcases. We also have five girls who were Little League World Series Champions in 2017 representing Waco and the Southwest.”

What are some of the strengths your team will bring this season: “We want to put effort into staying released at bat. Our bats can be very hot and hitting can be contagious for this team. We just have to remember to approach each at bat aggressively and with no fear.”

What is a primary focus your team has as you prepare for the 2020 GOLD National Championship: "We feel it’s an honor to qualify and play for the best organized amateur softball organization in America. It gives our team great exposure and more importantly, let’s us match up with the best players in the country. We feel this experience will be a great one and we are very excited to be a part of it.”
