OKLAHOMA CITY – USA Softball is pleased to announce the addition of James Ellis (Johnson City, Tenn.) to the Board of Directors. Currently serving as the Commissioner for USA Softball of Tennessee, Ellis will replace Carlton Benton as the Southeast Region Vice President. His appointment comes as a result of the recent regional elections during the USA Softball Annual Council Meeting.
“It is an honor to serve on the USA Softball Board of Directors and to represent the Southeast Region,” Ellis said. “Our previous Vice President, Carlton Benton, did a remarkable job and I hope to continue on the same path.”
In addition to serving as the USA Softball of Tennessee Commissioner for 12 years, Ellis’ involvement in the USA Softball Council spans a total of 32 years and includes roles within the Legislative, Commissioner Appointments, Membership, and Ethics Committees.
“At this point in my career, I wanted the opportunity to give back to a program that has been a large part of my life,” Ellis added. “USA Softball has provided me the opportunity to gain a wealth of knowledge for our sport and to develop friendships across the nation that otherwise would not have been possible. We are faced with many challenges in our great sport and I look forward to working with the Board, National Staff and everyone involved within USA Softball to continue providing the excellent service that has been and will continue to be expected from the National Governing Body of Softball.”
Elected to the USA Softball of Tennessee Hall of Fame in 2017, Ellis also works as the Johnson City Parks & Recreation Department Director where he oversees department operations including adult and youth softball athletic programs. Ellis can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org.
