Applicants sought for Commissioner with USA Softball of Michigan

OKLAHOMA CITY – USA Softball, a volunteer driven, not-for-profit organization, is seeking applicants for the position of Commissioner for USA Softball of Michigan. This position becomes available following the retirement of long-time Commissioner, Jerry Hanson, at the end of 2019.

The USA Softball Commissioner should be an individual who is interested in serving as the principal liaison between the local Michigan association and the USA Softball National Office in Oklahoma City. USASoftball.com  under the About Us section, Governance, then USA Softball Procedural Manual Articles 105 and 106 (pg. 11-14).  

A panel will interview and make their recommendation of a temporary commissioner to the USA Softball Board of Directors for confirmation. After serving a minimum of six months and no later than the USA Softball Annual Meeting, the Commissioners Appointment Committee will review the performance of the Commissioner and make a recommendation of interim or permanent status to the USA Softball Board of Directors. 
 
Founded in 1933 as the Amateur Softball Association, USA Softball has evolved into the strongest softball organization in the country. The growth and development of the association led the United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee (USOPC) to name USA Softball as the National Governing Body of Softball, pursuant to the Amateur Sports Act of 1978.
