OKLAHOMA CITY — Day Three of the third annual USA Softball All-American Games wrapped up the final 15 pool play games of the tournament followed by the single elimination quest for the 2019 All-American Games Championship Title.

Remaining undefeated in pool play and earning five of the six No. 1 seeds in bracket play were Region 10 White, Region 3 Blue, Region 5 Red, Region 5 Silver and Region 5 White. Also earning a No. 1 seed in bracket play was Region 4 Blue with a 2-1 pool play record. With consistently powerful offenses in pool play, crossing home plate happened frequently for the six No. 1 seeds as they scored a combined total of 137 runs with Region 5 Red tallying an impressive 38 runs of their own. In addition to the persistent offenses, defense was also sharp for the No. 1 seeded Regions as they allowed only 33 runs in their combined 18 pool play games, with Region 3 Blue and Region 5 Red giving up a low of only three runs each.

In a weekend that saw an extensive rain delay, powerful offenses and competitive victories, Region 3 Blue claimed the 2019 USA Softball All-American Games Championship title with a 6-2 victory over Region 5 Red.

Region 3 Blue earned a spot in the Championship Game after outscoring opponents 20-6 in bracket play. The All-American Games champs posted a 3-1 victory over Region 3 Red, defeated Region 10 White 4-3 and then earned a 6-1 win over Region 4 Blue to put them in the Championship finale. For Region 5 Red, a 2-1 win over Region 3 White, 15-1 victory over Region 9 Red and a 8-0 shutout over Region 5 Silver landed them in the title game.

Region 3 Blue had no hesitation crossing home plate as they jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning. Unable to answer back in the top of the second, Region 5 Red went down quietly, sending Region 3 Blue back to the plate to score an additional run, extending the score to 4-0. Region 5 Red didn’t stay quiet long though, as they cut the lead down by one in the top of the third which then resulted in a two-run bounce back from Region 3 Blue, making the score 6-1 in the bottom of the third. In their final inning at the plate, Region 5 Red was able to plate one run but a diving catch in center field by Adreoanna Hollingsworth ended the game to give Region 3 Blue the 6-2 victory.

Bailey Kendziorski owned the rubber for Region 3 Blue, pitching five innings, allowing two runs on seven hits with one strike out and one walk. Region 3 Blue totaled nine hits in the game with Adreoanna Hollingsworth, Madison Pruitt and Madison Humber each going 2-2. Region 5 Red collected seven hits with Shylien Brister, Abby Garza and Ella McDowell each racking up multiple hits in their Championship appearance.

“Bringing these girls together at an event like this is something that will keep a lot of these girls competing and shooting for that next level. To come out here and compete against the best of the best, it doesn’t matter how you come out of the tournament, just coming together and seeing what’s out there is one of the most important things we can do for these kids to keep pushing them to get to that next level” said Region 3 Blue Coach Gabriel Reyes. “I can’t explain how special this event is to me and these girls.”
