USA Softball JO Cup Team Preview: Centex Buzz 18U Gold

As we near the start of the 2019 USA Softball Junior Olympic (JO) Cup, we're highlighting some of the teams who will take to the fields in Spartanburg, S.C. to compete.

Meet the Centex Buzz, a team competing in the 18-Under division. Based out of Texas, Head Coach Trey Holdbrook breaks down what you can expect to see from his 2019 roster in Spartanburg.

How long the team has been together: This team has been together for seven years.

Noteworthy events and finishes in recent tournaments: Top 10 finish in USA Gold Nationals; USFA World Champions.

Returning players from 2018: 15 players returning from the 2018 season.

What are some of the strengths your team will bring this season: Our team is very well rounded with great athletes. Our offensive strength has the ability to put pressure on teams in a variety of ways. We also have a deep pitching staff that allows us to keep opposing offenses off balance.

What is a primary focus your team has as you prepare for the 2019 JO Cup: We always focus on energy, hustle, and compete every pitch! Our focus leading up to JO Cup this summer will be making sure we focus on controlling the things we can control and having the mental toughness to fight hard through adversity.

What they look forward to seeing at the 2019 JO Cup: We look forward to having the chance to play in front of and impress the USA National team coaches as well as the college coaches that will be in attendance. We are also excited for the high level of competition with the other great teams attending from across the country.
