“USA Softball is proud and excited to return to Midland, Mich. and Dow Diamond for the 11th edition of this prestigious international slow pitch event,” said USA Softball Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Craig Cress. “Since hosting the inaugural event in 2009, we’ve seen a tremendous growth not only in the participating teams but also in the interest and attendance from fans who want to watch the top slow pitch athletes proudly represent their country. We look forward to watching our men’s and women’s teams defend their respective Border Battle titles and seeing the inaugural Women’s Futures Slow Pitch National Team compete.”

The action kicks off July 26 at 9:30 a.m. ETas Canada’s Women’s Slow Pitch National Team faces off against On Point while the U.S. teams will see action for the first time later that day: Women’s Futures vs Low Bobs/Shirts & Logos at 11 a.m. ET, WSPNT vs On Point at 12:30 p.m. ET, Men’s Futures vs Comatose at 4 p.m. ET, and the MSPNT vs Wallace Lawn Care/Gillies at 5:30 p.m. ET. All four U.S. teams are slated for additional matchups later that day, and over the next two days of competition including four marquee events: the Men’s and Women’s Slow Pitch Showdown in addition to the Men’s and Women’s Border Battle.

New to the 2019 edition of Border Battle is a co-ed matchup in which members of the Men’s and Women’s Futures Teams will face off on two separate co-ed squads at 4 p.m. ET. In a classic USA vs. Canada matchup, both U.S. squads are looking to defend their Border Battle titles after defeating Team Canada in 2018.  The Women’s Border Battle is now in its third year and will be held Saturday, July 27 at 5:30 p.m. ET while the Men’s Border Battle, is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET.

Closing out the three-day event is the Slow Pitch Showdown, which is a battle royal between the USA Futures and the MSPNT and will take place on July 28 at 11 a.m. ET while the inaugural women’s event will take place at 1 p.m. ET. The USA Futures claimed the inaugural Slow Pitch Showdown title in 2012 with a 38-37 thrilling victory and although the MSPNT have gone on to claim several titles since, the Men’s Futures came out on top in 2018, besting the MSPNT, 29-14, in five innings.
