What can you expect when your team travels to Salem, Ore. for the Girls' 14-Under Class B Western National Championship? Find out below.

1.  Wallace Marine Park Softball Complex was the first star complex constructed in the whole country. It's five natural lit fields are surrounded by shaded and grassy park areas. The park provides a comfortable playing experience with a cool breeze coming off the river, ample shade trees, and low humidity.

3. The Oregon State Capital Building is just an 11-minute drive from Wallace Marine Park.  This building is finished in marble on the exterior and interior, with the Oregon Pioneer on top the building. Visitors can climb up 121 spiral steps to admire this figure that represents the spirit of Oregon’s early settlers. The grounds outside the capital showcase many fountains, the state tree and the state flower.

4. The Salem Seasonal Markets are fun for the whole family! Salem offers a couple different Seasonal Markets: Saturday Market, Monday Hospital Market, Wednesday Farmers Market, and Thursday West Salem Farmers Market. This year marks the 20th Anniversary of the Salem Saturday Market, which is located on the corner of Summer and Marion Streets and just one block north of the State Capital Mall. The vendors proved handmade, handcrafted or homegrown products, sharing the fresh bounty and local products from the Mid-Willamette Valley. The Monday Hospital Market is located at the Oak Street turnaround between buildings A and C. The Wednesday Farmers Market takes place on Chemeketa Street by Courthouse Square Plaza while the West Salem Farmers Market is located on Edgewater St. NW Greenway between Gerth Street and Kingwood Ave.

Silver Falls State Park is the kind of standout scenic treasure that puts Oregon firmly onto the national and international stage--it’s beauty, boundless recreational opportunities and historic presence keep it there. Where else can you walk behind a waterfall? Visit the famous South Falls and see what a 177-foot curtain of water looks like from behind.  It is part of the Trail of Ten Falls, a spectacular, nationally recognized hiking trail that weaves through a dense forested landscape. The South Falls day-use area has spacious lawns, barbecue stands, picnic shelters, tables, a playground, horseshoe pits, and a charming creek.

8. Just an hour away by a scenic drive west through the beautiful Coastal Mountain Range are attractions all along the Oregon Coast. There are many things offered on the coast, from enjoying the sand or dipping your toes in the water on the beach. The coast boasts an outlet mall, Chinook Winds Casino Resort (and Spirit Mountain Casino is only short drive from the park on the way to the coast), and you can also head north to the Tillamook Cheese Factory or south to the Oregon Coast Aquarium.

9.  A typical day at the park will include the chance to see an osprey soar with a fish in it's talons to the chicks nestled high atop one of the light posts.
