PLANO, Texas—Double-digit victories were a-plenty today in the first day of  bracket play at the 2018 USA Softball GOLD Nationals in Plano, Texas. In total, 38 games were played today with six won by more than 10 runs while eight ended in shutout victories.

“We’ve seen some great ballgames, and with a Junior Women’s National Team to select next year, this is a perfect opportunity to see a lot of great talent,” members of the USA Softball Women’s National Team Selection Committee noted. “What a great event hosted by Plano and USA Softball of Dallas/Ft. Worth. This National Championship provides the committee a chance to get together and observe a large group of talent from USA Softball’s Junior Olympic program – all in one place.”

In the 16-Under division, undefeated MS Elite 02 Gold-McKinney notched a 17-run victory over Angles Soliz-Premier, thanks to a 13-run top of the sixth inning that saw six singles and three doubles.
