GOLD Nationals Day Two Recap

      PLANO, Texas-- Hits were flying off the bats at the 2018 USA Softball GOLD Nationals again today as pool play concluded in Plano, Texas. 15 teams scoring almost 300 runs will head into double-elimination bracket play with perfect pool play records.


“The way that my players worked, their heart and desire coming into this week, they made sure they worked hard,” said American Freedom South National Head Coach,Tovar said of his team.“I have to give this (undefeated record) all to them.  They just put the team effort into it, came together, never came down, and never bowed their heads in adversity. I gave these girls a challenge at the beginning of the week to get us out of a slump we were in, and they stepped up in these first three pool play games.”


In the 16U division, Georgia Impact National-Lewisbounced back from a 5-0 shutout on Monday to dominate in their early Tuesday morning game, 13-2 over Tulsa Eagles Black. Both Rylie Moody and Danielle Trait notched three hits in the 11-run victory.   Santa FeInferno-Lovett kept their defensive dominance from Monday going, with the team allowing no runs to score in their two victories over Mo So Cal Athletics (5-0) and Tulsa Shootout16 GOLD(3-0). Avery Perkins’ three singlesledthe Inferno’s five run offensive push for the victory.  Texas Glory 16U Naudin scored 14 runs in their win overthen-undefeatedMS Elite Gold02-McKinney, thanks to a three-run homerun in the fifth from Camryn Compton.


18U saw dominance fromit’sTexas-based teams, scoring 61runs in their second day of play. A three-run homerun in the top of the sixth inning from K Simpson of Texas Glory sealed their 9-0 shutout of American Freedom Express South, and a home-state showdownledto a Fort Worth Batbusters 18UGold-Gravesvictory over BombersHTX Gold-ClevengerFort Worth Batbusters 18U Gold- Graves with 11 hits from 10 different players.
