2022 Women's National Team Selection Trials 

The USA Softball Women's National Team Selection Trials will be held January 1-6, 2022 at the Jackie Robinson Training Complex (JRTC) in Vero Beach, Fla. Participating athletes will vie for a spot on the 18-player roster for the 2022 USA Softball WNT that will compete at the 2022 World Games in Birmingham, Alabama, which will signify as the 2022 World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) World Cup.

 

Comprising the 2022 Women’s National Team Selection Trials 45-player invitee list includes present and former athletes from eight athletic conferences: American (one), Atlantic Coast (three), Big 12 (six), Colonial (two), Mid-Atlantic (one), Pac-12 (15), SEC (14) and USA (one) who represent 20 NCAA Division I universities. Due to injury or illness, the following athletes are unable to participate and will be evaluated based on the illness/injury waiver in the 2022 WNT Selection Procedures – Haylie McCleney, Haley Lee, Ali Aguilar, Monica Abbott, Rachel Garcia and Brittany Pickett.

During the selection process, athletes will participate in position drills as well as simulated games and be evaluated by the USA Softball Women’s National Team Selection Committee (WNTSC) in accordance with the 2022 Women's National Team Selection Procedures. Those Selection Procedures are available for viewing at USASoftball.com. The roster for the 2022 USA Softball WNT will be announced at the conclusion of Selection Trials.

 

Recently named Head Coach for the 2022 USA Softball Women’s National Team, Heather Tarr (Redmond, Washington/Washington Softball Head Coach) will lead the Red, White and Blue after serving as an assistant coach for Team USA’s silver medal finish at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. 

 

The complete coaching staff and schedule for the 2022 WNT will be announced at a later date.

 

In addition to Tarr, the following coaches will be in attendance at the Selection Trials: Cindy Ball-Malone (University of Central Florida), Jeff Harger (Arizona State University), Chris Malveaux (University of Tennessee), Scott Smith (Bombers Fastpitch) and Mike Steuerwald (Gaston College). 

 

The Selection Trials are open to the public with free admission.
