To Our Valued Members

USA Roller Sports regretfully announces the departure of President Bill Spooner, and in the near future Interim Executive Director Ricci Porter-Kmetz.

President Spooner has been a vital part of the USARS Board of Directors, and faithfully served as Finance Chair, Chairman of the Board and President. Spooner has resigned from his position as President and as a Board Member for personal reasons effective Friday September 22, 2017. The USARS Board of Directors wishes to publicly express our gratitude for the enormous amount of time, knowledge, resources and dedication Bill has given to the organization, not just during his time on the Board and as President, but for many years before that.

The Executive Committee has appointed Treasurer Kay Gallatin to serve as Acting President until the close of the USARS Annual Board Meeting on October 22, 2017. Elections for all Officer positions for a one-year term will take place at the Annual Meeting.

“While I am sad to hear that Bill has left the position of President, I am fortunate to have the time and willingness to help USARS by stepping in as the Acting President to complete his term.   I am pleased and honored to have been nominated by the Executive Committee for this important role,” stated Gallatin. “I hope with the help of the other officers, exec committee and board, we can keep forward momentum on the great projects started this year. “

Additionally, Ricci Porter-Kmetz who has served as Operations Director recently notified USARS she would be leaving at the end of the year. As many know, Ricci and her husband Kevin welcomed a son to their family earlier this year. Ricci was named Interim Executive Director by the Executive Committee, and will be a crucial asset in the hiring and training process of a new Executive Director. The Board is thankful that she asked to stay on for this process, and are hopeful we are able to have an Executive Director in place to learn from her prior to her departure. Ricci has been an integral part of our staff for many years, and is well known by our membership for her personality, knowledge and passion for the sport of skating. She will truly be missed.

Both Spooner and Porter-Kmetz stated they intend to remain actively involved with USARS and the great sport of roller skating. We wish them the best in their future endeavors, and once again, THANK YOU for all you both have done for the sport and organization.
