FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

USARS selects Pennsylvania All-Stars to Host National Championship in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

After analyzing several bids, the USARS Roller Derby Committee has selected the Pennsylvania All-Stars from Philadelphia, PA to be the hosts of the 2015 USARS National Championship. The three-day tournament will be held from Friday August 28th to Sunday August 30th at the beautiful Penn Ice Rink, a 2,500-seat arena located on Penn’s Campus adjacent to the east entrance of Penn Park.

The Penn Ice Rink

Also known as the Class of 1923 Arena, the 60,000 square foot venue is made primarily of poured concrete and is supported by four twenty-two foot concrete columns around the exterior of the facility. The lower concourse includes six locker rooms, full service concession stand, the Quaker Room overlooking the ice surface and skate rental room. The ice surface itself is 85'x 200' and totals 17,000 square feet. The upper concourse includes four restrooms and two concession stands and two entrances on Walnut Street, which completes the building's professional feel. Designed by Robert C. McMillian Associates, this building was a benchmark in ice arena design.

The National Championship will feature the top Women’s teams. Participation in the tournament for all additional categories (junior, men, and co-ed) is welcome and will be organized based on the number of teams interested in participating.
