3 Must-Have Items When Traveling Out of the Country to Race

Oct. 16, 2014, 7:07 p.m. (ET)

Tony Cabral, Tampa Bay Sprinter’s coach, took some time to share with us three, must-have items when traveling out of the country. Tony is getting ready to travel with Team USA to the Inline Speed Skating World Championships in Rosario, Argentina. He and Dave Browne will be in Argentina as the USA Roller Sports media representatives.

  • Easy and quick snacks.  Everyone knows that energy is important in racing and some tracks may be located in remote towns or locations that would make it difficult to grab a quick meal to refuel your engine. You may not be able to find your favorite power snack when traveling out of the country, so plan ahead and take some with you if possible.
  • Plug adapter and power converter.  Keep in mind that power requirements or plugs differ from country to country. If your electronic device is drained of all its power, your communications will be limited.
  • It’s best to be prepared and have some local currency specific to the country you will be racing in. You never know when you may run into an issue with your credit card or come across a location that only accepts cash. I know when I was in France; there were several small shops that required cash, and I was happy that I was prepared.
