Decoda SordahlDecoda Sordahl, AKA “LiL Tonka” is featured as the USARS Derby Spotlight athlete for July. She grew up skating and has participated in speed skating and is still currently involved in hockey and roller derby. Tonka helped her team, the Oly Rollers, claim the Seltzer Cup at the inaugural USARS Derby National Championships last December in Fresno, California.

When did you begin skating: When I was able to walk.


Fondest memory of skating: Playing derby on the big stage at regionals and nationals at 19 years old with my aunt and my two best friends.  


Future goals you hope to obtain as a skater: Be the best that I can be and to have fun while doing it.

Who is your favorite sports figure: My auntie Sassy


Who is the person you most admire/greatest influence in your life and why: My aunt because she has pushed me to become the skater that I am today, and has always stuck by my side when I have needed her the most.

What music do you listen to during training or competition? Whatever kind of music I am in the mood for!


What makes you a unique and special person: I’m outgoing, friendly, goofy, always put a smile on people’s faces, and I am very fun to be around.
