2018 Great Lakes International Skate Camp Info

The 2018 Great lakes International Skate Camp is just around the corner. Beginning Friday November 9th and ending Monday November 12th, this is the Premier skate camp in the USA. Located in friendly Warsaw, Indiana, participants can attend as few or as many days as they can. This is a freestyle, pairs and figure camp, with the primary focus on freestyle. It is open to skaters and registered coaches of all ages and ability. Learn more on what to do in the area at: www.koscvb.org

Freestyle training begins Friday morning and will be all four days. Figure training will begin early Saturday morning and run through Monday morning. Figure training will be a total of 9-10 hours on floor.

So the big question, who are the coaches? Our freestyle leaders this year are Luca Tocco and Danilo Decembrini. These two young, dynamic coaches inspired skaters last year with their boundless energy and knowledge. Tocco is a former World Championships silver medalist and many time European circuit medalists. Additionally, he is a highly sought after performer for both roller and ice shows in Europe. Decembrini is a four time Gold Medalists at the World Championships in pairs, as well as many time medalists in other International events. These two accomplished skaters will keep you engaged and excited to learn! Danilo will also be leading pairs seminars while Luca leads you in choreography and presentation sessions. Assisting will be former World Championships competitors.

Our figure leader this year will once again be USA Roller Sports Elite coach Pat Jacques. The figure training will be at the skating rink this year, like last year. Pat is an exceptional talent to work with all ages and abilities, and we are thankful for her willingness to return. Good coaches know, you never know all the answers, so seminars are always valuable to further your knowledge, and that of your students.

A schedule will be provided to registrants as we get closer. Please feel free to contact Trace at Eastlakeskate@hotmail.com  Sponsorship opportunities available, please contact Trace if interested.

The host hotel is Wyndham Garden Warsaw. Please call hotel direct at 574-269-2323. Ask for the “Skate Camp” block. Booking direct allows us to use unpaid outside agent fees towards rooms for our seminar leaders, so please keep that in mind when booking. This helps keep your camp cost down!    See you all soon!

Additional seminars are being worked on at this time, including an introduction to judges panel, a RollArt workshop, and hopefully a Sports performance session for skaters 13 and older. These are in the planning stages, and not confirmed.
