2022 Notice and Call for Committee and Board of Directors Applicants

USA Roller Sports is accepting applications and resumes from its members in good standing to serve on numerous Committee positons and board of directors positions. 

Deadline to apply for all open USARS Committees positions will be August 1, 2022

Board of Director Positons

Inline Hockey Athlete

Eligibility and Procedure. Only current USARS members, who have attained 18 years of age or older and who either meet the United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee definition of an active athlete and/or who have competed in roller sports in the Olympics, Pan American Games, Senior World Championships or other Senior International Elite Level Competitions within the immediately preceding ten years may apply for and qualify for nomination for a Board seat. The ten-year qualification period for nomination must be met by the athlete as of the date of the annual meeting at the close of which the director to be elected will take office.

 

At Large Position

1. Be a current member of USARS; 2. Possess special knowledge and experience of a technical or business nature or of the professions, which could be utilized to improve the management and development of the sport of competitive roller sports; 3. Be actively involved in USARS programs; 4. Agree in writing to abide by all current USARS policies and codes. 5. Submit a resume and application for a board seat.

 

Coaches Rep Position

Class VI members who are USARS certified coaches shall be entitled to elect one (1) director. Each coach elector will be entitled to one vote per person, regardless of the number of sports in which a certified coach may be registered. Candidates may be nominated by the Nominating Committee or by petition and shall meet the following requirements: 1. Be a USARS advanced or elite certified coach for a minimum of five (5) years; Be actively engaged as a teaching coach; Contribute significantly to the advancement of roller sports; Agree in writing to abide by USARS Code of Ethics; and 5. Submit a resume and application for the board seat.

 

After the coach reps position applications are received- voting ballots will  be sent out on 10/14. The deadline for the turning in the ballot is 11/30 (which is 10 days before the Fall Board meeting).

Standing Committees- Several Spots opening this Fall

Finance Committee: Sets the annual budget subject to modification and approval of the Board of Directors or by the Executive Committee as designated by the Board of Directors and shall review the monthly and annual statements of the organization, while making appropriate decisions regarding financial matters, investments, best practices and initial review of bids for expenses across the organization.    

Compliance Committee: Oversee all administrative grievances, eligibility, right to compete matters, and matters of ethical impropriety filed with USARS that are not connected with SafeSport.   The compliance committee is also tasked with issuing discipline sanctions.

Committee on Committees- Oversee all applications, letters and resumes submitted for open committee positions and make recommendations on placement of committee positions.

Special Committees- Several Spots opening this Fall

Hall of Fame and Honors Committee: Reviews and recommends individuals nominated for the Hall of Fame and other awards/honors bestowed by USA Roller Sports.

Elite Coaches Committee: Charged with evaluating and recommending applications received from USARS Advanced Coaches who seek Elite Coaching status. 

National Championships Planning Committee:  Oversees the planning and implementation of the annual National Championships.                                                                                

Committee on Education (Star Skate):  Oversees the Star Skate Development program and other Grassroots skating programs.

Communications and Technology Committee:  This committee reviews and recommends issues related to marketing and technology within the organization.
