Postponement of USAR National Doubles Championships

By Connor Shane | Oct. 29, 2020, 12 p.m. (ET)

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, USA Racquetball is postponing the 2021 National Doubles Championships, from February to late June, in order to protect the health and well-being of all concerned. This rescheduled 2021 event will not be held at the Sun Devil Fitness Center in Tempe, Arizona; a new location will be announced when the 2021 USAR National Championships schedule is published before year-end.

Our partners at Tempe Tourism and Arizona State University have been fantastic hosts for this tournament for over a decade and worked diligently to assess venue availability and city regulations. Decisions have been made to reduce the number of non-university events with public attendance on campus in accordance with guidelines issued by the Centers for Disease Control, as well as local, state, and federal regulations. We look forward to the time when we can all return to Tempe and create more treasured memories. Since the USA Racquetball National Doubles Championships also serves as a qualifying event for the U.S. Adult Team, the impact of this postponement will be examined by the U.S. Team Committee as we move into 2021.

We understand this news is disheartening for so many who have been away from their local clubs and racquetball friends for months. Please know that we are doing our best for the Racquetball family to put timelines and locations into place that will provide a safe return to competition at our National Championships.

Further details, including dates and locations of the 2021 National Championships schedule, as well as tournament registration deadlines and hotel portals for booking, will be published by year-end.
