2019 National Intercollegiate Championships Recap

Tempe, AZ – Nearly 200 Collegiate players from around the country descended upon Tempe, Arizona for the 2019 National Intercollegiate Championships presented b Penn Racquet Sports and Tempe Tourism. The event was held on the beautiful campus of Arizona State University at the Sun Devil Fitness Complex.



OVERALL TEAM TITLES DIVISION I AND DIVISION II
This unique team event saw 30 schools compete for titles in the Division I and Division II Overall, Men’s and Women’s Team categories.  Colorado State University - Pueblo claimed the Division I Overall Team title followed by Oregon State University and Brigham Young University respectively.  Logan University won the Division II Overall title over Bryant University.

WOMEN'S AND MEN'S TEAM TITLES
In the Division I Women’s Team division, Colorado State Pueblo claimed the top spot over Oregon State University.  The Division II Women’s title went to Baldwin Wallace University over Bryant University.  The Men’s Division I title was claimed by Oregon State University over Brigham Young University.  Division II was claimed by Logan University over Bryant University.

WOMEN'S COLLEGIATE SINGLES #1 GOLD DIVISION
In the Women’s #1 Gold Singles, Hollie Scott from Washington University defeated returning champion Carla Munoz from Colorado State University - Pueblo, 15-2, 15-8.  Both ladies showed why they are among the next generation of Ladies professionals with unbelievable athleticism and power.  Congratulations to Hollie on her victory and becoming the 2019 Intercollegiate National Champion.

MEN'S COLLEGIATE SINGLES #1 GOLD DIVISION
The Men’s #1 Gold Singles saw #1 seed Erik Garcia from Colorado State University – Pueblo take home the title against #2 seed Alejandro Almada from the University of Texas by scores of 15-5, 6-15, 11-5.  The power and quickness on display in this match thrilled the fans packed around the stadium court.  In the end, Erik Garcia defended his singles title from 2018 to become the 2019 Intercollegiate National Champion.
